Hollister Web Design Tip# 1010
– Is Your Site Mobile Friendly?
Did you know that mobile viewing accounts for more than 55% of your website traffic.
Have you ever asked if your website is mobile friendly?
Here is one way to get a quick idea of how your website looks on a mobile device using the Chrome Browser.
Right click your web page and select Inspect.
Choose the device you wish to simulate.
Select the device to emulate.
Safari is the most different of the 3 browsers I look at in this post.
We first must enable the Safari Developer Tools, go the the Safari menu and select the Safari Tab. Then click Preferences and select the Advanced Tab, the one with the Gear Icon.
Check the box: Show Develop menu in menu bar and then close the Preferences dialog box.
Go to your website and instead of right clicking the page, click the Develop tab in menu bar and select Enter Responsive Design Mode.
Are these tools 100% accurate, NO!
The only way to know for sure is to test your website on an actual mobile device.
HINT! You actually need to test on several different mobile devices, different models and makes.
The browser tools are not perfect but they are a good start.
These tools will give you a fairly good idea of what your site will look like on a mobile device.
